Very nutty scent….
I love the smell of coconut, so I’ll try just about anything that claims it is made from coconut, so I ordered this oil serum. As soon as I opened the container and smelled the oil in it, I was immediately disappointed. It has the strongest nutty smell that I never would have imagined from a coconut product. For reference, it reminds me of those candles at B&BW that have pecan or some other nut fragrance added – I cannot stand that smell. Well, I sucked it up and tried it on my hands anyway; there’s no way I could put this on my face. I really had to force myself to just ignore the smell and keep my hands away from my nose. The oil itself is nice; it rubs in well – it does leave some oily residue; I mean, it is oil! After about an hour from application, though, I noticed the nutty smell dissipated considerably and what remained was a sweeter coconut-like scent; it was much better! I actually liked the lingering smell on my skin. SO, I have been using the stuff b/c it does eventually lose that heavy nut smell and makes my skin feel smooth, but I cringe each time I apply it – only on my hands and forearms.

Coconut-like scent smells good enough to eat, but a bit too strong for me to wear
NW BRAND | THAI COCONUT | AMPHAWA | FACE & BODY OIL SERUM | Körper Öl | ℮ 50ml/1.75fl.oz.INGREDIENTS: Cocos Nucifera Oil, Parfum, Ethylhexyl Stearate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Dicaprylyl Ether, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Hydrogenated Ethylhexyl Olivate, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Hydrogenated Olive Oil Unsaponifiables, Tocopherol, BHTSCENT: This smells “similar” to coconut, but also very distinct. It kept reminding me of a sweet-savory dish I couldn’t place—until it hit me: it smells like pandan desserts from my local Filipino market. It also reminds me of ube pastries, especially ube pancakes. Both pandan and ube are often described as sweet, nutty, creamy, with hints of vanilla and coconut, so the association makes sense. Still, it’s odd that a coconut oil smells more coconut-adjacent than coconut. I’m guessing the oil has been refined (not listed), which would explain the lack of natural scent and the addition of parfum. Since pandan and ube are used in Southeast Asian fragrances, I wouldn’t be surprised if one or both are in the blend.PERFORMANCE: The oil itself feels very moisturizing and nourishing to the skin. However, despite enjoying the scent, I find it a bit too strong and lingering for a skin product. For my daily use, I will likely stick with basic coconut oil, which does not have such a prominent or lasting fragrance. This would be a good option for anyone who specifically enjoys a strong, sweet, coconut-adjacent aroma.PHOTO NOTE: There’s multiple languages on the label (at least Thai, German and English). I did my best with Google lens to translate the text, but it’s not perfect. Also, you’ll note a couple of what looks like duplicate shots, but they capture different parts of the text more accurately (I think?).

love the smell. if it was slightly more subtle and less sweet like the phutawan amphawa products for example i would be even happier. basically i need phutawan product replacements which i got in thailand and fell in love with. but they are hard to get here in germany

This oil/serum goes easily onto my face. You only need a small amount as it goes a long way. It leaves my skin soft for hours which is lovely. The huge downside is the smell. I expected coconut smell but got a sort of burnt sesame seed oil which is reminiscent of used cooking oil.I really want to use this oil on my face as I like its effects but I’m going to have to work hard to deal with the scent
